Here's to Nantucket round two this summer. this time was a little more relaxing and less stressful than last time but had it's own variety of problems and adventures but once again I was overwhelmingly happy to be with Anna Marie and see her so happy. She sure does love it here.
Anna Marie says a lot of things that are...how do you put it...funny, but not on purpose? She chops up and blends her sentences a lot (and throws a lot of Dutch into the mix as well) and so most of what comes out of her mouth does not make the most sense and should not be taken literally. Sometimes even the complete sentences she says are not what she actually means. I love talking to her though! It makes me so happy. I love trying to figure out what she is trying to say, especially when she is happy.
My two favorite Anna Marie sayings to me this summer are:
Anna Marie: are we all happy?
Me: we are all happy!
Anna Marie: yes, and we are all married
Me: Um...nope.
(which she said while I was in the care with all the married couples. I'm the only not married one)
Later that day she said "you are a very beautiful girl. how much do you weigh?"
HAHAHAHAHA! Ok, so maybe they are funnier when you are there. One night she called us her bonker monkeys...what was that suppose to mean?? I sure love this crazy girl!
And how cute is she with her little stuffed dog and dragging her blanket around? She is so cute!
And of course, I love these two together! She reaches out to him whenever he walks in to a room.
This place really is beautiful! I feel like I have had more time to enjoy it this summer.
And I love spending time with these crazy kids! We slept several nights out on the deck. We sometimes watched movies but never made it very far in to them before exhaustion took over. You know you're tired at night when it takes a week to finish Harry Potter 3....
The ALS ice bucket challenge found us out here and that was fun! It was just a funny coincidence to us especially since the day we did it was the day one of the founders of the challenge drowned here.
I have been trying to take as many pictures of this woman I can! obviously....
I got to take a night off to see The Last Five Years!! It was playing at a community theater in town and Megann and I took off to go see it because I LOVE the music! I fell in love with it a few summers back while taking my senior trip to San Francisco with two of my best friends. I have been dying to see it ever since. It was amazing! Maybe a little more so for me because of what I have gone through in the last year or so. But I just loved it!
We have spent several afternoons wandering the cobblestone streets of downtown Nantucket. I actually love this cute little town...even if I can't afford a single thing here. It is fun to be here.
But the highlight of this trip was definitely the fishing trip we took with John and his grandchildren. It was SO fun! We went hoping to catch striped (stripped?? IDK!! and they call me an intellectual) bass. A fishing trip they took earlier this summer broke all kinds of island records for the amount of bass caught. However, after rigging for an hour or so we were only turning up blues, which are John's least favorite fish. We were lucky that even those were bitting though! It was fun to reel them in. They are fighters for sure but we let most of them go. So we started bottom fishing and boy was that fun! My first line I pulled up a record breaking double keeper catch! And I think I had six more double keeper catcher, which is a record broken within itself. Most of my singles were keepers too. Everyone caught at least forty fish this way, however, the majority of the ones large enough to keep were mine. YES I AM BRAGGING! It was so fun to be that lucky! The fisher guides were going crazy! And it was so fantastic! I even caught a Scup (I think that was the crap fish's name) large enough to keep--consider that another record broken :) It was just a wonderful day out on the water. We were all exhausted by the time we were done. It was fun too because two of John and Anna Marie's grandchildren came with us and I really like having them around!
OHHHH!!!! Jeff caught a shark! That was pretty awesome!
I will have to post again later to describe the last day we spent on island and our crazy trip across the country but now it is off to school and classes and homework as I start my LAST semester as an undergrad student at BYU. hurray!!
