so I don't leave here walking,
not running,
or give me a reason to stay.
give me something to hang on to.
give me something to remember,
to believe in, to pursue.
give me something to care about.
give me some part of you.
give me something to poor over,
and under and around.
give me something to feel.
give me something to keep,
so I'm not left with nothing,
just wondering,
what it is I haven't found.
give me something safe and sound.
give me something to analyze,
to criticize, to scrutinize.
give me something I can justify.
give me something I can clarify.
give me a reason to hate you,
to love you, to feel you.
give me a reason to be through
give me something I can try to forget
so I can at least have something,
not nothing,
just give me anything to do.
give me a decision to make.
give me a way to appreciate,
contemplate, negotiate.
give me a reason to look back,
or give me a reason not to.
give me something to define,
to rewind, to leave behind.
give me something I can plan.
give me something to work on and towards,
so I can move on from what I cannot do,
cannot lose,
and have something that I can.
for once, give me the upper hand.
give me your word,
your heart, your sign.
give me some small peace of mind.
give me a moment of your time.

then I will let go of you.
